Sondra Decker Fruzzetti, MSW, LICSW

Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker
Psychotherapist

Good mental health allows for strong personal resilience, overall health and well-being.  Are you seeking counseling and support to deal with a personal problem or crisis – or to prevent one?  Perhaps you have been feeling overwhelmed and discouraged, and you are ready to create positive changes to increase your sense of security and self-confidence.

Together, we will determine a treatment plan and therapeutic interventions tailored to your circumstances.  This will allow you to identify your strengths as well as the barriers that may be interfering with resolving your issues.  You will be challenged and supported to let go of any habits of thought and behavior that may have prevented you from feeling mindful, authentic and satisfied with your life.

As a psychotherapist, Sondra addresses presenting issues that include disorders of anxiety, depression, persistent mental illness, grief and loss, relationship problems, unhealthy family dynamics, conflict resolution, parenting skills, aging, caregiver stress, phase of life transitions, trauma recovery, and intercultural relationships.  You may be provided with medical and community resources to support your needs.

Sondra has worked as a psychotherapist at several mental health clinics in the Twin Cities, and with a range of diagnoses.  An area of expertise is culturally-competent assessments and therapeutic strategies based on significant personal and professional intercultural experiences and study.  Prior to making a mid-life career decision to become a therapist, she had worked for 15 years with underserved populations, including New Americans/immigrants, and with international students and professors on college campuses.  She served for five years as Director of Family and Youth Services for a social service agency.
