Divorce Counseling

The time of separation and divorce can be a stressful time frame for parents and children. The Holmes Rahe Stress Scale rates divorce as second on a list of stressful life events. The Divorce Counselor can assist a parent in navigating the process in a way that minimizes the negative impact on the family. The topics that can be covered during this process include: 1) Identifying divorce processes that are available; 2) Strategies for communicating with the co-parent; 3) Conflict Resolution Techniques; 4) Talking to the children about divorce and navigating their concerns; 5) Addressing the child’s developmental needs through the divorce process and afterward.
