Emotional Freedom Techniques
Emotional Freedom Techniques is a treatment within the field of Energy Psychology. EFT, which involves tapping on acupressure points, has been shown to be effective in calming unwanted thoughts, actions and emotions. It is a unified mind-body approach that is effective for reducing emotional sensations related to trauma and stress, and effective for increasing a more balanced sense of well being. There are more than 100 peer reviewed studies that have shown EFT to be effective with phobias, anxiety, depression and PTSD. Research studies have shown EFT to significantly reduce cortisol, a chemical that is produced in the body when a person experiences stress. A practitioner trained in EFT will guide the client in applying the tapping approach to issues and memories that lead to distressing thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. EFT is effective in reducing stress, it helps to diminish the intensity of emotional trauma, and it modifies the way the brain processes emotional information.
