Panic Attack
People who have anxiety also may experience panic attacks. A panic attack is a sudden surge of fear and intense physical discomfort. In addition to having the panic attack, often times, people develop a fear of having a panic attack which further activates the feelings of panic and contributes to the cycle repeating itself. The therapist will help the client identify the triggers for the panic attacks and teach the client a variety of skills to calm the symptoms down. These interventions include breathing and grounding techniques, self soothing exercises, and re-wiring the brain by restructuring thought processes.
