PTSD

 Traumatized individuals may develop Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), a disorder in which the memory of the traumatic event comes to dominate the person's consciousness, activating a fear response and serving to deplete their lives of meaning and pleasure.  Discoveries in the field of neuroscience have served to help mental health professionals understand the neurological forces at work when PTSD is experienced. The approaches for treating PTSD, include but not limited to are: Mind Body Interventions, EMDR, Emotional Freedom Techniques, Somatic Interventions, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy for Trauma.
